'Home Working' - thanks, but no thanks

At the beginning of the pandemic, the idea of 'working from home' sounded great. A couple of hours extra in bed each day, meetings in your pants, a few sneaky half days lazing in the sun, time with the family, and all this whilst saving £££'s on travel. Happy days right?

The reality of course, for many, has been far different. It's been a drag, it's been worrying, it's been isolating, it's been a massive strain on our mental health. The home office - the place of safety, the comfort blanket, the place to escape - has in essence become the place of voluntary incarceration. The person who entered the home office in March 2020, isn't the same person emerging almost 18 months later.

You may not have created your own 'Wilson' like Tom Hanks in Castaway, and you may not even realise it yourself, but you've changed. The outgoing you may have been replaced with the quiet you. The confident you may have been replaced with the worried you. The fit you may have been replaced with the beers at 4 o'clock you.

We want to help here at MMC - because we're no different, we're going through the same. We're no experts but we help each other - we don't leave anyone behind. We meet, we talk, we share experiences, and we start to break the cycle of negativity brought on by the pandemic. We reintroduce ourselves to the world, build confidence, build optimisim, look to the future.
